Direct quote: "Russia's maximalist demands for Ukraine to withdraw its troops combined with these brutal strikes indicate that it is Russia, not Ukraine, that obstructs peace. Pressure must be applied to Moscow, not Kyiv".
Details: The minister reminded that Russia launched massive missile and drone strikes on Ukraine, targeting the civilian population of Kyiv and other regions.
He noted that the capital of Ukraine experienced an especially horrific night, with reports of 9 civilian casualties and over 70 injured, including 6 children.
Other cities and towns across Ukraine also became targets of Russian missiles and drones in the middle of the night, resulting in civilian casualties, Sybiha added.
"Putin, through his actions rather than words, shows that he does not respect any peace efforts and only wishes to continue the war. Weakness and concessions will not stop his terror and aggression. Only strength and pressure can do that," stated the Ukrainian minister.
Previously: US President Donald Trump stated that Russia is ready for a "peace deal", while negotiating with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is more difficult.
