One of the points that irritated Donald Trump during his meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky was the fact that the Ukrainian president did not arrive in formal attire.

Details: Trump's advisors repeatedly told Zelensky's team that it would be more respectful for the Ukrainian president to avoid military-style clothing during his visit to the White House.

Zelensky arrived at the White House in a more formal black outfit featuring the national emblem of Ukraine, but without a suit.

"He cleaned up well today", – commented Trump while shaking Zelensky's hand at the entrance to the West Wing of the White House.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine, Zelensky has avoided wearing a suit. Polish President Andrzej Duda once expressed a hope that Zelensky would attend a summit "in a suit", symbolizing an end to the war in Ukraine.

In the Oval Office on Friday, one of the reporters asked Zelensky why he didn't wear a suit for the meeting at the "highest level" of the United States.

"Why aren't you in a suit? Do you own a suit?" – asked the journalist.

"Do you have a problem?" – replied Zelensky.

"Many Americans have issues with those who do not respect the dress code of the Oval Office", – responded the journalist.

After this, Zelensky stated that he would wear a suit once the Russo-Ukrainian war is over.
