The Ukrainian air defense has neutralized 283 enemy drones and five guided X-59 missiles, as reported by the Air Forces of Ukraine on Telegram.
On the night of October 16, the enemy launched a combined strike on Ukraine's energy infrastructure using attack drones and air and ground-launched missiles. In total, air defense forces detected 357 aerial threats, including 37 missiles (with 28 being ballistic) and 320 drones of various types:
- 320 attack drones of the Shahed and Gerber types from Russian territories, around 200 of which were classified as “Shaheds”;
- 2 air-launched Kh-47M2 Kinzhal missiles;
- 26 Iskander-M/KH-23 ballistic missiles;
- 2 Iskander-K cruise missiles;
- 7 guided X-59 missiles.
The air assault was countered by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of Ukraine's defense forces.
As of 10:00, preliminary data indicates that 288 aerial targets were destroyed:
- 283 enemy drones;
- 5 guided X-59 missiles.
Additionally, 18 enemy missiles were locally lost, and information is being confirmed. Direct hits on 14 missiles and 37 attack drones were recorded at 14 locations. The main strike direction was Poltava and Kharkiv regions. The attack continues, with enemy drones still present in the airspace. Please stay safe!
