On the morning of October 8, Russian military forces attacked an oil depot in Pryluky, Chernihiv region, causing a significant fire. Rescue teams are currently engaged in managing the aftermath of this assault.
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) reported via Telegram that a large-scale fire broke out at the site, which is now being contained by rescuers using advanced technology.
Fortunately, there have been no reports of casualties so far.
Shelling on October 8
During the night of October 8, Russian forces launched a massive strike on Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
The primary targets of these strikes included Nizhyn, Pryluky, Kryvyi Rih, and Odesa region.
Twelve drones attacked the railway infrastructure near Nizhyn, while the oil depot in Pryluky was also hit.
Significant smoke was observed in Pryluky following the attack on the oil depot.
Residents were advised to keep windows closed and limit outdoor activities if the wind direction changes.
Approximately 30 drones targeted Kryvyi Rih, resulting in damage to the energy sector.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, over 180 drones were involved in the nighttime attack, with only 154 successfully intercepted.
