In just two days of drone strikes on Kyiv and the surrounding area, over 1900 tons of harmful emissions entered the atmosphere.

This information was reported by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources.

In June, Kyiv and the region became the epicenter of one of the most devastating attacks by Russian drones.

On June 6 and 10, 1902 tons of harmful substances were released into the air of the capital region.

Preliminary estimates indicate that the environmental damages from these incidents exceeded 5.7 million hryvnias.

“All these incidents were accompanied by uncontrolled emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere – without filtration, under combat conditions. There was mass burning of fuel, construction materials, plastics, and equipment.

This is not just the destruction of infrastructure – it’s a systematic destruction of the environment, air pollution, and the creation of long-term health risks for the capital's residents,” stated the Ministry of Environment.

It’s worth noting that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the amount of greenhouse gas emissions in Ukraine has significantly increased. In 2024, this figure nearly doubled compared to previous years.
