On June 15, renowned monumental decorative artist Mykhailo Klymchenko lost his life due to injuries sustained at the front. He was only 49 years old.
This sad news was reported by the Kyiv National University of Theatre, Cinema and Television named after I.K. Karpenko-Kary.
"We have lost another talented alumnus, an outstanding artist and a graduate of our university in 1997, Mykhailo Klymchenko", – stated the university's announcement.
Klymchenko was a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine and the winner of the international glass art competition "VітроПрофі".
In the 1990s, he worked as an artist in the National Theatre of Russian Drama named after Lesya Ukrainka. In recent years, he dedicated himself entirely to his creative pursuits.
He was well known for his monumental decorative works that can be found in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, and Sumy. Among his notable pieces are the mosaic "Archangel Michael" in the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Putivl, the triptych "Saint John the Baptist at the Jordan", and stained glass depictions of saints in Kharkiv, as well as the "Savior Not Made by Hands" in the Holy Resurrection Church in Cherkasy region.
