In April, YouTube reclaimed its position as the leading platform for viewing on smart TVs. According to a new report by Nielsen, Google’s service accounted for 12.4% of the total viewing time users spent watching content on televisions.
This marks the third consecutive month that YouTube has remained the top platform, and this time it achieved the largest share of user viewing time. As for the other platforms, their standings have remained unchanged since the tracking began in 2023.
The top five also includes Disney, which features the most popular series of April, "Grey's Anatomy," as well as Paramount, which experienced the largest growth compared to the previous month, along with NBC Universal and Netflix.
It’s worth noting that reports emerged in February indicating that more users are turning to YouTube on their TVs, leading to a decline in the dominance of smartphones as the primary platform. This aligns with the company's vision, which is preparing updates to allow YouTube to display content from other streaming services.
Podcasts, which are actively published on YouTube, also contribute to this trend. According to Google, over 1 billion people watch them each month.
