Ukrainian athlete Oksana Livach made a remarkable appearance in the final of the European Wrestling Championship, competing in the 50 kg weight category.
In the decisive match, she defeated five-time continental medalist Evin Demirhan from Turkey with a score of 8:0.
Previously, in the semifinals, Livach overcame neutral Russian athlete Nadezhda Sokolova with a score of 2:1, and before that, she convincingly defeated French wrestler Emma Luthenhauser 7:0.
This victory marks Livach's second European Championship title; her first was won in 2019. Overall, this was her fourth final at the European level.
Additionally, this medal is the second for Ukraine in the tournament. Earlier, Andriy Dzhelep won a bronze medal in the 61 kg weight category.
The European Championship began on April 7 and will run for a week, where representatives of freestyle, Greco-Roman, and women’s wrestling will compete for 30 medals across ten weight categories.
