A new initiative has been launched in Kyiv focusing on the physical rehabilitation of veterans in need of support following injuries and illnesses. This was announced during a panel discussion at the Second Kyiv Veterans Forum on September 30 by the Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration, Olena Hovorova.

«With the support of the Youth and Sports Department of the Kyiv City State Administration and the «Kyiv Military Hub», the fitness clubs «SportLand» and «Fitness Continent» are providing free rehabilitation services to our veterans who have sustained injuries, undergone surgeries, or have disabilities affecting their musculoskeletal or nervous systems. This initiative aims to accelerate their social and psychological adaptation back to civilian life after the war», – Olena Hovorova stated.

She emphasized that fitness and physical activity not only maintain physical condition but also promote psychological recovery, help overcome post-traumatic stress disorder, and restore emotional balance.

Currently, these services are available at 5 clubs: in Darnytsia, Livoberezhna, Obolon, Voskresenka, and Troieshchyna. According to various loyalty programs, 73 veterans of Ukraine are already benefiting from these services. In total, the network offers 150 free club memberships (30 for each club).

Each club selects 2 partner trainers who have specialized education and at least two years of experience as personal trainers. They undergo further training in rehabilitation at the National University of Physical Education and Sports of Ukraine.

The rehabilitation trainer (project curator) assesses the overall condition and fitness level of the veteran, assisting in selecting safe and effective workouts. Functional testing is conducted to determine cardiovascular fitness, muscle imbalances, overall flexibility, strength, and endurance. An individualized training program tailored to each veteran's level of ability is also developed.
