Ukrainian swimmers have made their first appearance in the finals of the 2025 European Championship in short course swimming, showcasing impressive results during the 50-meter freestyle qualification.
The men's relay team, consisting of Mykyta Sheremet, Ilya Linnik, Vladyslav Bukhov, and Stepan Babenko, finished the distance in 1:24.71 minutes, marking the sixth-best time in the qualifiers.
Notably, this also sets a new Ukrainian record for this distance, surpassing the previous achievement established in 2001, when Ukrainians recorded a time of 1:26.09 minutes.
The final competition will take place today, December 2. The race will begin at 21:24 Kyiv time.
Remember, in August 2025, Sheremet became the world junior champion in the 50-meter freestyle, also matching the junior world record for this distance.
