The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) has announced the extension of the ban on Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in competitions. This was reported on the federation's official website.
The FIS Council met this Tuesday and voted to prevent athletes from Russia and Belarus from competing as individual neutral athletes (AIN) in the FIS qualification events for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and the Paralympic Games.
It is important to note that representatives from these countries have been barred from FIS-sanctioned events since 2022, following the onset of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Earlier, the Finnish association stated that they oppose the return of Russian athletes and that they will not be able to compete in the first stage of the World Cup in the city of Ruka.
