On October 17, fencing competitions in the sabre category kicked off in the capital as part of the Ukrainian Cup 2025. The first day already brought a stunning victory for a Kyiv athlete!
Nikita Koshman — a student of the Kyiv City School of Higher Sports Mastery — earned his first gold medal in the Ukrainian Cup history!
After two consecutive seasons of silver and a bronze at the World Championship in July, the athlete began the new season brilliantly — third event and third podium finish!
On his path to victory, Nikita defeated the reigning European champion Roman Svichkar, confidently won against Ruslan Timoshenko and Mykhailo Podolskyi, and in the final overcame Kyiv's Yevhen Makiyenko with a score of 15:10.
Bronze medals were claimed by Yevheniy Horbachuk (Kharkiv) and Maxim Hula (Lviv) — the youngest medalist among sabre fencers this year.
Winners and their coaches received awards, gifts, and flowers from the partners and sponsors of the Ukrainian Cup 2025.
