Recently, the new hockey season in Ukraine for 2025/2026 has kicked off. This year, five teams are participating in the national championship, including two from Kyiv. Here’s the complete list of participants:
- HC "Kremenchuk" (Kremenchuk, Poltava region)
- HC "Sokil" (Kyiv)
- HC "Kryzhynka-Capitalz" (Kyiv)
- HC "Storm" (Odesa)
- HC "Odeshchyna" (Odesa)
This season sees some changes. Unfortunately, the Kherson team "Dnipro" is not participating, instead, there is a new team — HC "Odeshchyna". Interestingly, the vice-champion from Kyiv, the "Kyiv Capitals" club, has entered its main team into the Baltic Hockey League, while the "Kryzhynka-Capitalz" remains in the Ukrainian Championship as a farm team, consisting of young players and those who did not make it to the main squad.
Kyiv's "Sokil" opened their season with a match against Odesa's "Storm" and secured a comeback victory, having been down by two goals during the game.
"SOKIL" — "STORM" — 3:2 (0:1, 1:1, 2:0)
"KREMENCHUK" — "KRYZHYNKA-CAPITALZ" — 6:1 (4:0; 0:1; 2:0)
Next, "Kryzhynka-Capitalz" will play on Wednesday, October 15, against "Storm". Meanwhile, "Sokil" will face "Odeshchyna" the following day.
