Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina has been eliminated from the WTA 1000 event in Rome, losing in the quarterfinals to American Peyton Stearns with a score of 1:2 in sets.
Svitolina began her tournament in the second round, where she first defeated Spanish player Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, followed by victories over Americans Hailey Baptiste and Danielle Collins in tight three-set matches.
In the quarterfinals, Svitolina faced Stearns, who was the lowest-ranked participant at this stage (WTA No. 42). This was their first encounter.
