The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has allocated 1.6 billion hryvnias for the purchase of 460 new school buses. This initiative will enable communities to acquire new vehicles or replace those destroyed due to the war.

This information was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economy.

It is noted that the procurement will take place through the electronic catalog Prozorro Market.

According to Minister of Economy Julia Svyrydenko, the "School Bus" program is also a significant part of the "Made in Ukraine" policy.

"This program not only allows children from remote villages to reach their schools but also stimulates Ukrainian companies to expand production, create new jobs, and produce high-value-added products," she stated.

Funds from the subsidy will be directed to regions where the need for school transport is most urgent, but options are currently limited. The state will cover 70% to 95% of the bus costs, depending on the financial capacity of the community, with local budgets compensating the rest.

Initially, military lyceums will receive the buses, as their students require transportation; schools whose transport has been destroyed due to war or repurposed for military needs; schools with students from communities where facilities have been damaged or destroyed; and foundational schools planned for establishment in 2025, among others.

Reminder:

In the 2023-2024 period, communities and schools have already procured 1007 school buses through Prozorro Market for over 3 billion hryvnias.
