The Ukrainian human rights organization “Center for Civil Liberties” (CCG) is launching the Igor Kozlovskyi Award, which will be presented annually. This information is available on the organization's website.
The award will honor individuals, initiatives, campaigns, and communities that uphold human dignity across various fields including culture, education, politics, business, media, military, science, and other areas of public life.
“Sometimes we defend dignity without even calling it human rights advocacy – when we support others, speak the truth, stand for justice, or simply refuse to turn a blind eye. At the Center for Civil Liberties, we refer to this as unconscious human rights advocacy. The Igor Kozlovskyi Award celebrates such individuals – those who make the world a more humane place through their actions,” states the award's website.
According to CCG, the aim of the award is to demonstrate that human rights advocacy is not solely the task of a narrow circle of specialists, but rather a daily practice for every individual. The award is given for a specific contribution or achievement during the current year.
Nominees can be individuals or groups, initiatives or campaigns, organizations or companies of any ownership type – public, state, or private.
Anyone can submit a nomination via an online form. The organizer then processes the applications and forwards them to the jury, which consists of the head of the Center for Civil Liberties and four invited members. They select three finalists from whom the laureate is chosen.
The award ceremony and announcement of the laureate will take place annually on December 10 – International Human Rights Day.
