The Ukrainian community in Vienna held memorial events dedicated to the third anniversary of the killing of prisoners of war in Volnovakha.
The initiative was organized by the Unlimited Democracy union at a popular tourist square near St. Stephen's Cathedral. Activists set up empty chairs to honor each fallen soldier from the terrorist attack, displaying their names, call signs, birth dates, and the common date of death – 29.07.2022. An information stand was also placed nearby, detailing the terrorist act perpetrated by Russian forces.
Another memorial event took place near the Vienna State Opera, organized by the Mrija association. This event aimed to honor the memory of those who died during the attack in Olenivka and draw attention to the importance of freeing all Ukrainian prisoners. The message "Gefangenschaft tötet" (German for "Captivity kills") was featured prominently on numerous posters, alongside calls for the release of the "Azov" fighters.
