On August 2, President Volodymyr Zelensky awarded the Order of Freedom to journalist Victoria Roschina, who was killed in Russian captivity in October 2024.

This information was shared by Zelensky on Instagram.

"In October 2024, we faced a significant loss: Ukrainian journalist Victoria Roschina was killed in Russian captivity. She was already on the exchange list. Russia had promised to release her but failed to keep its word.

Victoria was among those who bravely reported the truth about the war. She worked on the front lines and in temporarily occupied territories, risking her life.

In February of this year, her body, showing multiple signs of torture, was returned to Ukraine. Since then, all necessary examinations have been conducted. Today we honor Victoria Roschina posthumously. She has been awarded the Order of Freedom for her unwavering belief that freedom will prevail. Eternal memory to Victoria Roschina," Zelensky stated.
