The European Solidarity faction is calling for an urgent session of the Ukrainian Parliament involving President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Direct quote: "We demand that President V. Zelensky present the Ukrainian peace plan and details of the negotiations. Does this plan still include the Minerals Agreement? Zelensky himself was the initiator of this idea, declaring it as a key aspect of his resilience plan in the fall of 2024. How will this agreement contribute to peace and security guarantees?"

Herashchenko expressed concern that Ukrainians are learning crucial information through international media rather than from their own leaders.

She also emphasized her worry over "leaks regarding the content of a peace plan allegedly proposed by the USA, which could mean not peace, but capitulation".

Direct quote: "Ukrainians should receive updates on the negotiation process not from international outlets but from their own government... Our community has the right to know what is happening".

She noted that for several months, ministers appointed by Zelensky to the negotiation team have been avoiding communication with Parliament, and their absence during question hours raises concerns.

Direct quote: "The Ukrainian government must report to the public regarding the minerals agreement and our realistic plan for achieving peace, strengthening the anti-Putin coalition, and maintaining support for Ukraine. We demand a public meeting with President Zelensky and the ministers directly involved in the negotiation process".

Background:

  • Media reports indicate that the Trump administration handed Ukraine a single-page document outlining a peace settlement proposal last week. Kyiv views this proposal as heavily biased towards Russia.
  • Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko stated that Ukraine is prepared to engage in peace talks but will not back down.
