Military intelligence operatives from the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense have received substantial support from donors totaling over 20 million UAH for the acquisition of Magura naval platforms and fiber-optic drones. The GUR announced this on their Facebook page.
“A new enhancement for Ukraine's military intelligence: specialists from GUR's Group 13 have received two state-of-the-art Magura V7 naval platforms, while the FPV experts from the “Shamanbat” unit have received fiber-optic drones,” the statement reads.
The funds were provided by stand-up comedian Anton Timoshenko, who raised them during his European concert tour, performing 37 shows in 29 cities over one and a half months.
The technological equipment was purchased and handed over to the intelligence units in collaboration with the charity fund of Diana Podolyanchuk.
The new Magura V7 drones, which can be equipped with missiles to destroy enemy aerial targets, have been symbolically named “Setup” and “Punchline”.
“Thank you to everyone who donated and participated in the fundraising. I was asked how to name the Magura drones. I said - if there are two, let's call them “Setup” and “Punchline”. It’s very symbolic. Setup is the beginning of a joke, and punchline is its, so to speak, combat part. They say humor is not a weapon, but as you can see, everything is possible with your help. I hope these “Maguras” will perform well in the defense of Ukraine,” Timoshenko said.
Six active units of the GUR received a support package from an anonymous benefactor from the Netherlands worth 350,000 euros.
