The government has adopted a new resolution that will enable the launch of a service for reporting European protocols within the Diia app as early as the first quarter of 2026. This initiative will significantly ease the process of documenting minor traffic accidents and reduce the likelihood of errors when entering data. Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov shared this information.
The European protocol is a simplified procedure for documenting minor traffic accidents without calling the police. Currently, drivers fill out the necessary documents either manually or electronically, which can often lead to mistakes and, consequently, refusals of insurance claims.
The Ministry of Digital Transformation emphasizes that the new digital service will substantially reduce the risks of such situations. The Diia app will automatically pull data from registries, allowing drivers to only enter a few parameters and attach photos.
The accident reporting process will look like this:
- create an accident report in Diia;
- receive automatically filled data from registries – without the risk of errors;
- attach photos from the scene;
- select the scheme, location, date, and time of the incident;
- send it to the other participant for agreement;
- sign the document using Diia.Signature, which gives it legal force.
The status of the European protocol processing can be tracked in real-time within the Diia app. The automatic verification of information in registries will also prevent refusals of insurance payouts due to errors in names or vehicle numbers.
