The CEO of the mobile operator "Kyivstar", Oleksandr Komarov, indicated that the company is going through one of its toughest periods regarding electricity since the summer of 2024, with approximately 30% of the network lacking power. Komarov shared this information on his Facebook page.
According to him, 5 regional technology centers are operating on generators. Overall, the network relies on batteries (backup batteries) and generators, while about 4% of sites have become non-operational.
He also advised Kyivstar internet users to ensure backup power for their routers, which could help alleviate network pressure during blackouts.
"As of mid-November, only 15-20% of Home Internet subscribers have arranged for backup power for their routers. During a recent complete blackout in the Poltava region, the client reserve was only at 2%.
And everything is interconnected: users switch to mobile internet, increasing the load on base stations, shortening their backup time, and degrading mobile connection quality and data transfer speeds," he noted.
