Recently, a tragic event took place at the Kyiv Reservoir in the Vyshhorod district during a fishing outing. According to the Kyiv Regional State Emergency Service, despite storm warnings and strong winds, two men set out on a boat.
Due to the gusty winds, their vessel capsized, and both men found themselves in the cold water about 50 meters from the shore.
A woman walking her dog nearby heard their cries for help and immediately called emergency services at «101».
Rescue teams from the 36th State Fire and Rescue Unit of Irpin and divers from the Special Rescue Unit promptly arrived at the scene.
One of the men was located and brought to shore — he survived because he was wearing a life jacket.
Unfortunately, the second fisherman could not be found immediately. Due to strong winds and darkness, search operations resumed in the morning.
On October 31, the emergency service divers discovered and recovered the body of a man born in 1978.
It is important to remember that starting from November 1, fishing is prohibited in the waters of Kyiv and the surrounding region, which applies to all water bodies in Ukraine, including the Dnipro, Ros, and others.
