On October 17, Kyiv welcomed four more ambulances from Brussels, intended to support defenders. This was announced by the city's mayor, Vitali Klitschko.
Since the onset of the full-scale war, the Brussels community has delivered a total of 9 ambulances to the Ukrainian capital, including today’s contributions.
The previous five vehicles have already been vital in saving the health and lives of Kyiv’s residents, especially following enemy shelling.
The mayor explained that Brussels is also aiding in equipping city medical institutions and training local medical staff. Throughout the war, various humanitarian aid, equipment, and special vehicles have been sent to Kyiv.
“Today, together with Brussels Mayor Philippe Close, we visited the ‘Human Titans’ prosthetics center, which opened at one of the city hospitals at the end of summer. This facility provides assistance to wounded soldiers and civilians in need of modern prosthetics and rehabilitation. It is equipped with a 3D scanner for creating high-precision prosthetic components,” said Vitali Klitschko.
The center was established with the support of Berlin Mayor Kai Wegner, the charitable organization Life Bridge Ukraine, and the company ONUR GROUP Ukraine.
Currently, 13 veterans from different regions of Ukraine are undergoing prosthetics and rehabilitation at the center, with three of them already in the final stages.
Additionally, six prosthetists from Kyiv have received training at prosthetics centers in Berlin.
As part of the project, over 60 Ukrainian soldiers with lower limb amputations of varying complexities have received prosthetics at the Bundeswehr military hospital.
“Now, wounded defenders can receive prosthetics at a center operating in Kyiv. The implementation of such projects showcases the strength of partnerships between European cities, partnerships that help save the health and lives of Ukrainians,” emphasized Vitali Klitschko.
