The Kyiv District Administrative Court has ruled in favor of the construction of the National Memorial Military Cemetery, affirming its legality. The Supreme Court also suspended the cancellation of the land transfer, emphasizing the project's significance for public interest and honoring fallen soldiers. This was reported by the administration of the memorial.
The Eco-Cultural Center filed a lawsuit against the Cabinet of Ministers, seeking to annul the government resolution from March 1, 2024, regarding the removal of green vegetation during construction. The court rejected the lawsuit, confirming the legality of the government's decision.
On September 24, the Supreme Court granted the request of the National Military Memorial Cemetery, halting the annulment of the Kyiv Regional State Administration's order on land transfer. The court's decision noted that halting the project could lead to serious consequences for public interest and the families of the fallen, who are to be buried at the memorial.
“The National Military Memorial Cemetery is a space of memory and respect for those who gave their lives for Ukraine. Its construction is a matter of state importance and our collective duty to the fallen heroes, their families, and defenders whose names remain unknown,” the statement reads.
In July 2025, it was reported that the National Military Memorial Cemetery in Kyiv had prepared the first 6,000 burial sites.
