The only power line supplying the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant has been disconnected. The Ministry of Energy confirmed this information via Telegram.
"At 16:56, the power transmission line that supplied electricity to Zaporizhzhia NPP was turned off. The plant has switched to diesel generators for its power needs, indicating a significant violation of normal operational conditions," the statement reads.
It was also noted that throughout the occupation, Zaporizhzhia NPP has repeatedly experienced power outages due to shelling and damage to energy infrastructure. The Ministry emphasized that this incident further proves that the Russian occupation poses a serious threat to the safe operation of the plant.
"The Ministry calls on the international community to take decisive action - it is essential to increase pressure on Russia for the immediate demilitarization and de-occupation of the plant. Restoring full and legitimate control of Zaporizhzhia NPP to Ukraine is the only way to ensure nuclear safety in the region," the ministry stressed.
Additionally, the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency adopted a resolution calling for Russia to immediately de-occupy the Zaporizhzhia NPP.
