Ukrzaliznytsia has completed the contracting process for the production of 100 new passenger cars.

According to the company's press service, an agreement has been signed with the domestic manufacturer JSC "Kryukov Car Building Works" to procure new model cars with innovative technical specifications. This year, a total of 100 cars have been ordered under the relevant budget program.

The new batch of cars will have an extended service life of 20 years, improved maintenance intervals, and reduced servicing personnel requirements.

Out of the 100 cars, 5 will be of a new generation featuring modern management systems, an operational lifespan 80% longer than standard models, and the capacity to accommodate up to 44 passengers in a compartment.

The new cars will also have a wider body and improved layout, with sleeping spaces extended to 2.2 m. Air suspension, implemented for the first time in Ukrainian sleeping cars, will guarantee a smoother ride.

The new cars will transition from coal heating to fully electric heating with individual temperature control, allowing for climate control even during prolonged stops.

The service life of these cars will be 50 years, thanks to the use of stainless steel. This is 20 years longer than standard cars.

Among the new cars, there will be 5 compartment cars convertible to SV-type cars, including one inclusive car with an electric lift for passengers with disabilities.

The cost of one passenger car is approximately 95 million UAH, while the car for passengers with disabilities costs 98.3 million UAH. However, considering the significantly longer service life, the new generation cars are more economical.

The delivery of the cars will take 2.5 years from the moment the manufacturer receives the advance payment, which includes certification procedures. With additional funding from the state budget, Ukrzaliznytsia will continue to expand its rolling stock renewal program.
