The initiative focuses on engaging European partners to create a waste recycling hub with zero toxic emissions and utilizing residual heat for city heating.

A modern plant for ecological waste management is set to be built in the Kyiv region, enabling energy generation. The project involves collaboration with European entities and the use of technologies that produce zero toxic emissions, allowing for the generation of up to 10 MW of electricity. This information was shared by representatives of KOVA.

During a meeting in Obukhiv, the details of constructing a waste processing plant with a closed-loop system were discussed. Besides the environmental benefits, the project includes using residual heat for heating, promoting energy efficiency in the region.

According to Kyiv region head Mykola Kalashnyk, the realization of this project will create new job opportunities and enhance the ecological awareness of communities. It is expected that modern waste recycling approaches will help mitigate the negative environmental impact and represent a significant step in developing the ecological infrastructure of the Kyiv region.

Moreover, Kyiv is investing significant funds to ensure the stable and environmentally friendly operation of landfill No. 5 until its closure.
