On April 2, Ukraine closed the last Medical-Social Expert Commission (MSEC), which operated in the Cherkasy region.

This was announced by the head of the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, Ihor Taburets.

"Finally, the deputies have put an end to the MSEC saga. They supported the project developed in our OVA, which we proposed from the beginning.

This public institution will merge into the regional information-analytical center of medical statistics, transferring all archives", – noted Ihor Taburets.

The bill for the final dissolution of the MSEC was supported by the Verkhovna Rada on December 19, 2024. The explanatory note indicated that the MSEC system did not meet the "modern challenges" faced by Ukraine during the war and "current approaches to determining disability." Instead, it was proposed to create expert medical teams.

As a result, starting in 2025, MSECs began to be dissolved in every region. However, in the Cherkasy region, the regional council deputies failed to vote on this three times due to a lack of quorum, as reported by Suspilne.Cherkasy.

Nevertheless, this did not affect the reform, as expert medical teams began to be formed in the region starting in January, set to replace the MSEC.

We previously detailed the MSEC reform and its changes for doctors and patients.
