Ukraine is set to introduce new electronic medical certificates starting in 2026, aimed at adoption and obtaining driver's licenses.
This was announced by Dmytro Chernysh, the head of the electronic health system development department at the National Health Service of Ukraine, during the eHealth Day event at the Public Health exhibition.
«We are preparing to launch electronic medical certificates for adoption and for drivers next year. These are important documents that need to be digitized to simplify and enhance transparency in the processes,» Chernysh stated.
He emphasized that work on these services is ongoing. He also mentioned that implementing electronic medical certificates will require several legislative changes.
Additionally, this year marks the beginning of the next phase of electronic rehabilitation services, focusing on the electronic prescription of medical aids for patients.
«Previously, these data were handled on paper; now they will be automatically transmitted to the Ministry of Social Policy, allowing patients to receive necessary aids more quickly,» Chernysh added.
Starting in 2026, Ukraine will also launch a preventive health check-up program for individuals aged 40 and above to detect dangerous diseases at early stages. Participants will be able to receive funding for examinations through the «Diiia» app.
