The Security Service of Ukraine continues its active fight against enemy agents. Recently, another Russian spy was arrested in the Kyiv region, where he had been hiding after coordinating enemy fire in Donetsk. This was reported by the SBU.
According to case materials, the arrested individual is a 32-year-old miner from the temporarily occupied Novohrodivka, recruited by Russian special services.
Before the community's capture, he was drawn into the agency's network through the banned social network «Odnoklassniki». There, he was contacted by a military intelligence «handler» from Russia who offered him cooperation in exchange for virtual relationships.
Agreeing to the «offer», he began monitoring and relaying the locations of Defense Forces in the city and its surroundings to the occupiers.
The intelligence data obtained was used to plan airstrikes on the community for an offensive in the Pokrovsk direction.
After the capture of Novohrodivka, the agent moved to the Kyiv region, hoping to «lie low» and later continue his reconnaissance and sabotage activities in favor of Russia.
SBU officers identified the suspect's location and apprehended him in a rented residence.
During searches, a smartphone was seized containing evidence of his collaboration with the occupiers.
Currently, SBU investigators have notified the agent of suspicion under part 2 of article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed under martial law).
The suspect is in custody without the right to bail. He faces life imprisonment with property confiscation.
Comprehensive measures were conducted by SBU officers in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural guidance of the Donetsk regional prosecutor's office.
