A 40-year-old man in Kyiv, under the influence of alcohol, engaged in violent behavior, threatening passersby with a knife. He faces up to seven years in prison.
Recently, the police received a report about a person behaving aggressively in the courtyard of a residential building in the Obolon district.
Upon arrival, officers found that the suspect had attacked a driver sitting in a parked car, attempting to open the doors. Following this, he damaged the vehicle and blocked the driver from leaving.
Later, he instigated a conflict with a couple walking by. Brandishing the knife, he swung it around and knocked the man to the ground, resulting in a broken arm.
The assailant was arrested - he turned out to be a 40-year-old local resident who was intoxicated. It was established that he had a prior criminal record for a similar offense.
Investigators charged him under part 4 of article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – hooliganism. The penalty for this charge can be up to seven years in prison. During the pre-trial investigation, the suspect will remain in custody.
