A woman has been charged with making a terroristic threat, with a potential sentence of up to eight years in prison for her ill-advised «joke».
The Kyiv police received a report from a woman who claimed she intended to detonate a grenade at a police administrative building. This information was promptly relayed to the relevant authorities.
Investigators and neighborhood police officers determined that the call to the emergency line «102» was made by a 52-year-old local resident, who was at home at the time of the call. During a search of her residence, no explosive devices were found. While interacting with law enforcement, the woman did not provide any reasonable justification for her actions.
Investigators detained the suspect under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and charged her under Part 2 of Article 259 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – knowingly false report about an impending explosion, if the object of the report was a building that facilitates the activities of government authorities.
The penalty for this offense may reach up to eight years of imprisonment.
