A traffic accident occurred in the Bucha district of the Kyiv region on the 33rd kilometer of the Kyiv – Chop highway, involving four vehicles.
Preliminary reports indicate that a 51-year-old driver of a Volkswagen Golf failed to maintain a safe distance, resulting in a collision with a Daewoo Lanos. Following the impact, the Daewoo Lanos collided with an Opel Antara and then veered into oncoming traffic, crashing into an Opel Vivaro driven by a 46-year-old woman.
As a result of the accident, a 41-year-old driver of the Daewoo Lanos and a 3-year-old child passenger were transported to a medical facility, along with the driver and a 56-year-old passenger of the Opel Vivaro.
Law enforcement apprehended the driver of the Volkswagen Golf under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. He was found to have a blood alcohol concentration of 1.89 promille.
Investigators, under the supervision of the Kyiv Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Defense in the Central Region, have notified the suspect of charges for violating road safety regulations or operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol (Part 1, Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
