Law enforcement uncovered a group involved in growing narcotic plants in Poltava, subsequently selling the finished products in Kyiv. Under Ukrainian law, they face up to twelve years of imprisonment.
This illegal activity was revealed by investigators from the Dnipro Police Department in collaboration with the Security Service of Ukraine and the Dnipro District Prosecutor's Office.
During the investigation, it was found that a 49-year-old man from Dnipropetrovsk, along with a 42-year-old friend, organized an illegal business. On the premises of one of the suspects' households in Poltava, they cultivated cannabis plants and equipped a room in the house for drying.
During a search, approximately fifty bags of cannabis and five kilograms of prepared marijuana were seized. The criminals were arrested under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
The investigators notified the accomplices about the suspicion under Part 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for the manufacture and storage of narcotic substances in particularly large amounts. The article's sanctions provide for up to twelve years of imprisonment with property confiscation.
