Two individuals assured a man that they could influence officials at the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Ukraine and assist him in securing the position of acting director of a state enterprise. Currently, the preliminary investigation has been successfully completed, and the suspects face up to five years in prison. 
Law enforcement uncovered the criminal activity of two residents in June of this year with the support of the Security Service of Ukraine in Kyiv and the Kyiv region.
According to the head of the investigative department, Mykola Habinet, the wrongdoers informed the victim about their connections with the leadership of the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Ukraine during their conversation:
«They offered the man a managerial position for $500,000. If he agreed to the proposal, the suspects assured him they could ensure a decision regarding his appointment as the head of one of the state enterprises of the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Ukraine. We apprehended the suspects at the crime scene while money was being exchanged».
Investigators, under the procedural guidance of the Shevchenkivskyi District Prosecutor's Office, charged the apprehended with suspicion under part 2 of Article 28 and part 2 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – abuse of influence. The suspects remained in custody during the investigation.
As of now, the preliminary investigation has concluded. Investigators have sent the indictment materials to court. The accused face up to five years of imprisonment.
