The SBU successfully conducted an operation, apprehending another Russian spy in Kyiv. This agent, under orders from the FSB, was coordinating enemy airstrikes across two crucial regions – Kyiv and Poltava.
It has been established that his task was to identify and transmit coordinates of strategic sites such as air bases, radar stations, and anti-aircraft systems.
Investigations revealed that the recruited Kyiv resident came under scrutiny when he disseminated pro-Kremlin comments on Telegram.
Using his own vehicle, the agent toured the area and marked the locations of defense installations on Google Maps.
Additionally, he recorded the flight paths and numbers of Ukrainian military aircraft operations over both regions.
After intelligence-gathering missions, he prepared a "report" and sent it to his handlers in the form of screenshots of electronic maps with coordinates and his comments.
The SBU caught the spy “in the act” during reconnaissance near one of the locations.
A smartphone containing evidence of his collaboration with the enemy was seized during the search.
Based on the collected evidence, SBU investigators charged him under part 2 of article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed in wartime conditions).
The perpetrator is currently in custody and faces life imprisonment with asset confiscation.
Comprehensive measures were undertaken by SBU personnel in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the supervision of the Donetsk regional prosecutor's office.
