Authorities in Kyiv have charged a former theater director in relation to allegations of sexual assault against students. The man, who held a managerial position in the theater and taught at a university, has been accused of exploiting his position since 2017 to coerce students into sexual relations without their consent. Additionally, he has repeatedly committed acts of violence against them.
Investigators from the Main Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine, with the support of the Cyber Police Department and under the supervision of the Office of the Prosecutor General, have documented criminal acts against five victims, including a minor.
Based on the collected evidence, the suspect has been charged with rape, including that of a minor (Part 2 and Part 3 of Article 152 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), as well as sexual violence (Part 1 and Part 2 of Article 153 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). He faces up to ten years in prison.
He has been served a petition for a preventive measure in the form of detention without bail.
