The Kyiv court is set to begin proceedings against a former prosecutor who allegedly caused a fatal traffic accident while intoxicated. The Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office has submitted an indictment to the Holosiivskyi District Court against the accused, who is charged with causing a traffic accident that resulted in the death of a 61-year-old woman.
Investigations revealed that on the evening of July 19, 2025, the accused drove into a pedestrian zone on Velyka Vasylkivska Street and struck a woman walking on the sidewalk. The victim succumbed to her injuries. Following the incident, the driver attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended. A blood test indicated a high alcohol concentration.
The charges include violating road safety rules, specifically driving under the influence of alcohol, which led to the victim's death, as well as knowingly leaving the victim in a life-threatening condition without assistance (Part 1 of Article 135, Part 3 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The investigation was conducted by detectives of the National Police of Ukraine under the supervision of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
It should be noted that the lead prosecutor in this case is Attorney General Ruslan Kravchenko. The accused is currently in custody without the option of bail.
