Law enforcement officers apprehended a Kyiv resident who reported a false bomb threat regarding an administrative building.  He now faces real consequences for his joke.
In July of this year, the Kyiv police received an anonymous call from a man claiming that explosives had been planted in the building of the Darnytsia District Court.
Emergency response teams and bomb technicians promptly arrived at the scene, thoroughly inspecting the building and its surroundings. Fortunately, no explosive devices were found.
The police quickly identified the individual behind the false report and arrested him. He was a 36-year-old man with a prior criminal record for drug offenses. The man could not explain his motives for the act.
Investigators charged him under  part 1  of article 259 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for knowingly making a false report about an impending explosion that poses a threat to life or could result in serious consequences.
Subsequently, based on the evidence presented, the Darnytsia District Court found him guilty and sentenced him to three years in prison.
