Kyiv investigators have completed their pre-trial investigation and submitted the indictment to the court. The accused face up to fifteen years of imprisonment or life imprisonment.
Recall that at the end of January, law enforcement officers from Kyiv, together with the Security Service of Ukraine, uncovered a 36-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman who were plotting to murder the First Deputy Minister of Health.
During the preliminary investigation, the authorities also identified another individual involved in the crime—a 28-year-old resident of the Kyiv region.
The investigation revealed that in October 2024, a friend of the conspirators died in a Kyiv hospital from severe injuries sustained in a traffic accident. The First Deputy Minister, who is an anesthesiologist, was on duty at the medical facility that day.
Believing him responsible for the woman's death, the criminals devised a detailed murder plan, which was gradually implemented under law enforcement supervision.
For several months, they monitored the official's daily routine and movements, rented an apartment in the same residential complex as the potential victim, obtained a gym membership where he trained, and regularly changed vehicles to remain unnoticed. Additionally, the conspirators frequently visited a shooting range to practice their weapon handling skills.
Law enforcement arrested the accomplices during a money exchange for a pistol intended to be the murder weapon. Searches revealed weapons, ammunition, and psychoactive substances, leading to their indictment.
Currently, the pre-trial investigation is concluded, and the criminal case materials have been forwarded to the court. The defendants will be tried under part 1 of article 14, paragraph 12 of part 2 of article 115, part 2 of article 28, part 3 of article 15, part 1, 2 of article 263, and part 3 of article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. They face life imprisonment.
