The Security Service of Ukraine, with the assistance of the Ministry of Defense and the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, uncovered a new case of espionage by the FSB within the Ukrainian military units.
As a result of this operation in Lviv, a citizen of the Russian Federation was arrested, who had volunteered for one of the Armed Forces units but began working for Russian intelligence.
This informant was correcting missile strikes against Lviv region.
To carry out the enemy's task, he relayed coordinates of his unit's temporary deployment and adjacent military units to the FSB.
Additionally, he provided geolocations of armored columns, transit warehouses, and vehicle parks along the Ukrainian border.
It was established that the Russian maintained contact with his handler via anonymous chats. For secrecy, the agent used three smartphones with different operators, including those from European countries.
However, this did not help him. SBU officers documented the agent's activities and arrested him as he approached an ATM to check for incoming funds from Russia.
It was determined that the FSB had involved his brother from Russia to recruit him.
SBU investigators informed the agent of his suspicion.
The offender is currently in custody.
The operation was conducted under the procedural leadership of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
