Officers from the Sviyatoshyn District Police Department in Kyiv have submitted an indictment to the court against an Odesa resident who promised to renovate an apartment for residents of Kyiv but instead stole their equipment and building materials.
Recall that in August of this year, a woman reported a burglary to the Sviyatoshyn police. Investigators and analysts from the criminal analysis sector identified the suspect—a 34-year-old man from Odesa who had recently arrived in the capital.
During the pre-trial investigation, law enforcement learned that the complainant and her partner decided to renovate their apartment and found a contractor through an online advertisement. After receiving the keys, the perpetrator ceased all communication on the very first day, and when the owners checked the premises, they discovered they had been robbed.
The investigators informed the perpetrator of the suspicion under part 4 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and seized the stolen property from him.
Currently, the police have sent the indictment to court.
The suspect faces up to eight years in prison for theft committed during martial law.
