It has been discovered that a construction company in the capital has unlawfully expanded its building operations onto a protected green area near the Dnieper River. As a result, trees on the conservation land were cut down, the topsoil was removed, and sand was dumped.
The investigators from the Dnipro Police Department in Kyiv have registered this fact in the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations, qualifying it under part 4 of Article 197-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – unlawful occupation of land and illegal construction, as well as part 1 of Article 246 – illegal cutting or illegal transportation, storage, and selling of timber.
Currently, the investigation is ongoing to establish all circumstances related to the illegal construction. The maximum penalty prescribed can be up to three years of imprisonment.
The Dnipro District Prosecutor's Office is overseeing the procedural management.
