A thief knocked on an elderly man's door asking for money to help his sick mother. After receiving funds, he snatched the man's mobile phone and fled. For this crime, he faces up to ten years in prison.
Recently, an 87-year-old local resident reported a robbery to the police. A response team was dispatched to the scene.
Officers found that an unknown person knocked on the pensioner's door, claiming to be a neighbor. He explained that his mother was ill and requested financial assistance. The elderly man, feeling sympathetic, gave him a few dozen hryvnias. However, the thief found this insufficient and took the phone that was lying on the table in the corridor.
The police quickly identified the perpetrator and apprehended him in less than half an hour. He was a 34-year-old man with a prior conviction for fraud, living on a nearby street.
The suspect was detained under the criminal procedural code, and the police recovered the victim's phone. Investigators notified him of the suspicion under part 4 of article 186 - robbery committed under martial law. Currently, a preventive measure is being determined. The perpetrator faces up to ten years of imprisonment for his actions.
