According to information from the State Bureau of Investigation (DBR), the Prosecutor General's Office has charged three NABU officers in connection with traffic accidents that resulted in injuries.
In one incident, a law enforcement officer failed to yield while exiting a secondary road in Kyiv and collided with a vehicle on the main road. The collision caused the officer's car to leave the roadway and hit a pedestrian, resulting in severe injuries, including the amputation of a leg.
In another incident, while attempting to overtake another vehicle on the Kyiv-Odesa highway, a law enforcement officer did not maintain a safe speed, leading to the overturning of his vehicle and a subsequent crash into a gas station building. A passenger suffered serious injuries, including fractures and a brain contusion.
In the third incident, at a regulated intersection in Kyiv, an officer driving a service vehicle struck a pedestrian crossing at a green light. The victim sustained moderate injuries.
As a result of the preliminary investigation, all three suspects were charged with violating traffic safety rules, leading to moderate and serious injuries (part 2 of Article 286 and part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The issue of preventive measures for the suspects is currently being considered, with the prosecution intending to request detention for at least two of them.
If proven guilty, the officers could face up to 8 years in prison.
The Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office and the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office are overseeing the legal proceedings.
