A shocking incident occurred in the Rivne district where a man doused his wife in gasoline and set her on fire, leading to severe injuries. Authorities are currently probing this brutal attack.

The attacker also sustained fatal burns and later died. Meanwhile, his wife is fighting for her life in the hospital.

This tragic event took place on July 19 around 9:30 PM in the village of Shubkiv. A 44-year-old local man picked up his 41-year-old wife from work in a "VAZ 2107" car. During the drive, a quarrel stemming from jealousy erupted, after which the husband fastened his wife's seatbelt, doused both of them and the car with gasoline, and ignited it.

The woman managed to escape from the burning vehicle and extinguished the flames by jumping into a puddle. She was able to reach the road, where local villagers spotted her and called for an ambulance.

Medical staff diagnosed her with 70% body burns and admitted her to intensive care.

The 44-year-old assailant was also taken to the hospital, but unfortunately, he did not survive his injuries.

The police are investigating the case as an attempted murder committed with extreme brutality, under the Ukrainian criminal code.
