On July 12 at 22:33, an 18-year-old girl contacted law enforcement, reporting that her father was threatening her and their family with a grenade and firearms in the village of Mykhailivka-Rubezhivka.
Police officers from the Bucha District Police Department and special forces swiftly arrived at the scene.
During the apprehension of the offender, he activated a hand grenade and threw it towards the police. Following the explosion, officers fired back to neutralize the threat. The 41-year-old suspect was killed instantly.
As a result of the grenade explosion, five police officers sustained shrapnel injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment.
During the search of the premises, four pistols, a pyrotechnic grenade, a hunting rifle, and a knife were discovered and seized.
Investigators have initiated criminal proceedings for illegal handling of weapons, military ammunition, or explosives, and for assaulting law enforcement officers (part 1 of article 263, article 348 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation continue to work at the scene.
