Attacker apprehended after assaulting a Ukrainian citizen in Poland.
Police in Jelenia Góra arrested a 40-year-old man without a fixed residence who had prior legal issues. He assaulted a 51-year-old Ukrainian woman.
The victim reported that she was beaten by an acquaintance with whom she had been staying in an abandoned building for several days. After the assault, he held her captive for a total of 9 days.
On June 19, the woman managed to escape from the confinement and reached the nearby detention center. Injured and traumatized, she sought help. The detention center staff promptly provided her with first aid and called for medical assistance and police.
When the victim showed the police a photo of her attacker, they immediately recognized him, as he was already involved in other crimes committed in Jelenia Góra.
The police quickly launched a search for the criminal. He was spotted near an abandoned building and attempted to flee upon seeing the officers, but was apprehended swiftly.
He is currently under investigation by the district prosecutor's office in Jelenia Góra, where all circumstances of the case are being clarified.
“The suspect will be brought to the district prosecutor's office in Jelenia Góra, where charges will be presented,” the police stated. A request for a preventive measure in the form of temporary arrest will also be submitted to the court.
