The Webometrics Ranking of World Universities is one of the most authoritative global university rankings that assesses institutions based on their presence and impact in the online space.

It has been published biannually since 2004 and is compiled by the Cybermetrics Lab of the Spanish National Research Council.

Experts evaluate various webometric indicators, including:

  • visibility – how recognizable the university is online, the number of external websites linking to the university's site, indicating how easily users can find information about it;
  • transparency – based on citations from leading authors in Google Scholar, showing how accessible the university's research is and how often it is cited by other scholars;
  • website content – the number of web pages and other digital materials (e.g., documents in various formats) available on the university's official website.

Additionally, bibliometric indicators are considered – the number of articles published by the university's researchers that fall within the top 10% most cited in their fields. This reflects the quality and impact of research conducted at the university.

The ranking system uses data collected from sources such as Majestic, Google Scholar, and Scimago-Scopus.

"Participation in the Webometrics ranking is not just a formality, but a globally recognized tool for assessing the openness of the scientific process, the university's integration into global academic processes, and the effectiveness of its digital strategy," noted the university.
